Ben Smith

Director, Social and Emerging Media

Ben plays a key role in most of the campaigns we develop, providing Callahan’s clients with superior social media strategy and community management guidance, handled both within the agency and by our clients.

After a decade in traditional media, Ben started his own social media firm, Social: IRL in 2010 to help businesses use the full potential of social media: engaging customers through the journey from prospect to customer to advocate, connecting employees, fostering innovation and collaboration. He helps businesses align social media with higher-level corporate goals.

Ben is the host of Social: IRL’s national conference series, working with the most respected names in the industry to provide training in a format that goes well beyond typical keynote presentations. He speaks on social media topics to national audiences and is a guest lecturer for local journalism and communications classes. He is a member of the global board of directors of Social Media Club, a nonprofit organization promoting digital advocacy.
